The Artist & the Garden

Sandra has spent a lifetime creating things of beauty with her hands. Her quilts — dozens of them, each one a world of color, geometry, and intention — are the work of someone who has mastered patience as a practice. No two are alike, and every stitch carries the quiet confidence of an artist who has long since stopped needing to prove anything.

The same spirit lives in her garden. What began as an ordinary backyard has been transformed, season by season, into something you want to slow down in. She has a gardener’s instinct — the kind that knows when to tend and when to simply let things grow.

Family

Sandra raised two children with a strength and grace that still quietly defines everything she does. She showed up — every single day — and in doing so gave them a blueprint for what it looks like to love fiercely and keep going regardless.

Today she is grandmother to three, and if you ask anyone in the family, the answer is unanimous: she is the best there has ever been. She is the kind of grandmother children write about when someone asks them to name their hero.

A Life with Animals

Sandra has always had a gift with animals. For years she was the proud companion of a truly one-of-a-kind blue-skinned Bedlington Terrier — a dog as singular and remarkable as its owner.

Today she is devoted dog mom to two wonderful mini Labradoodles who have, between them, brought dozens of puppies into the world and made a great many families very happy. If you want to see Sandra at her most purely joyful, find her with her dogs.

Growing Up Sandy

Sandra grew up the only sister among three brothers, and she held her own beautifully. She sang beside them in choir. She danced ballet — graceful and disciplined in equal measure. She was a lifeguard. She was the kind of young woman who could do most things and chose to do all of them.

She worked hard her whole life and earned a well-deserved retirement after decades of dedication to her career — the kind of work ethic that doesn’t make a fuss about itself, it just shows up and gets things done.

The Things She Loves

Ask Sandra what she’s reading and you’ll get an enthusiastic answer — she is equally at home in the warm, human world of a Maeve Binchy novel or swept up in an Elin Hilderbrand summer story. A good book and a quiet afternoon are, in her view, a perfect combination.

She has a deep love of great British television and a very particular soft spot for The Great British Baking Show — which, if you know Sandra, makes complete sense. It is a show about craft, patience, warmth, and people who care enormously about doing something well. Naturally, she feels right at home.

The Traveler

Sandra loves to travel, and travel has loved her back. She has been to Italy multiple times — and a piece of her heart will permanently, happily reside in Tuscany. There is something about the light there, the food, the unhurried sense that beauty is simply the expected standard, that resonates deeply with who she is.

In her younger years, she set out on what can only be described as a genuinely daring adventure across a good stretch of Europe — the kind of trip that shapes a person, that you carry in your bones long after you’ve come home. She came back with stories, perspective, and a lifelong appetite for seeing the world.

“She is the kind of person anyone can aspire to be — and the kind who would never think to say so herself.”
